About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Taunton, Massachusetts. This local driver position delivers solo within a 150-mile radius and provides daily home time. The schedule is Monday through Friday with no weekends, starting at 5:30 a.m. Drivers are paid weekly at $29.77 per hour for 40 or more hours per week, with a weekly guarantee of $1,623.24. Paid training is provided, including training on required equipment.

Drivers operate day cabs or sleepers and haul building supplies in 53-foot dry van trailers. The work may involve driver-assist unloading, using a manual pallet jack. A Hazmat endorsement is required. Ryder states its trucks are well-maintained and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The position includes medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days; PTO accrual starting on the first day; uniforms, a cell phone, and a boot allowance; and a 401(k) rollover option with company match after one year. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position, including Hazmat.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle meeting one of these thresholds: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Comply with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
