About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Livermore, California. This local driving position delivers solo to Northern California and offers daily home time. Drivers use a day cab tractor and a 48-foot flatbed trailer, with metal freight requiring load securement only. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the role and operates well-maintained trucks that are 36 months or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The position pays $30.00 per hour, with weekly pay and an average of 50 hours per week. The stated earnings are $1,650 or more per week. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a start time between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. Ryder describes the role as a company-driver opportunity and offers support during the transition and throughout a driver's career.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable tractor-trailer or comparable-vehicle experience meeting one of these alternatives: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, which may include employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check and road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
