About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL solo truck driver in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The role delivers freight across North Dakota, Texas, the states east of those areas, and Canada. Drivers operate sleeper tractors with APUs and pull dry van and Conestoga trailers. Freight includes commercial and residential garage doors, and dry van loads involve touch freight with driver assistance and load securement by strapping. Drivers are home every other week. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The position offers an average of $1,950 per week, weekly pay, safety and sign-on bonuses, and paid training. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions, with their jobs protected when doing so. Ryder also describes support for company drivers transitioning from owner-operator trucks and throughout their careers.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol information from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle meeting one of these thresholds: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Nice To Haves

Experience with dry van and Conestoga trailers is preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver freight solo across the specified routes.
Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
