About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Vernon, California. The position pays $26.00 per hour, with average work of 55 hours per week and weekly pay of $1,625 or more. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with a start time between 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The driver delivers solo across Southern California and Central California, with possible routes to Northern California and Arizona, and returns home daily.

The driver operates a day-cab tandem-axle tractor with a 48- or 53-foot dry van. Freight is touch dry grocery, and the driver assists with unloading. Equipment includes electric and manual pallet jacks; Ryder provides training on required equipment. Backing skills or experience are required, and store delivery experience is preferred. Ryder says its trucks are well-maintained and safe, are 36 months old or newer, and have 24/7 roadside maintenance support and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Have backing skills or experience.

Responsibilities
