About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL team driver in Temple, Texas. Drivers deliver auto parts on over-the-road routes to Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Indiana. The freight is no-touch, and the equipment includes a Super Sleeper tractor and a 53-foot dry van. Ryder provides paid training on the equipment needed for the role and operates trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The schedule is home weekly, with departures Monday or Tuesday. Start times may be in the morning or evening and vary based on route bid. Drivers earn weekly pay, with a stated weekly guarantee of $1,500 per driver, and may receive a $2,000 shutdown bonus within the first year. Ryder also describes support for drivers transitioning from owner-operator work to company driving.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have a Class A CDL and verifiable tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle experience meeting one of these alternatives: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, or customer-specific badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
