About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver for a local yard position in Apopka, Florida. The role primarily involves safely handling and maneuvering tractor-trailers on the yard and within an area on public roads. Drivers operate a yard tractor and dry van trailers, with routes described as local and home daily. The position requires compliance with safety and DOT regulations, ongoing training, and customer service.

Pay is $24.00 per hour, plus $1.00 per hour shift pay, with 40 or more hours per week and weekly pay. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Sunday through Wednesday, with a 4:30 PM start time. Ryder states that its trucks are well-maintained and safe, are 36 months or newer, and have 24/7 roadside maintenance support. Fueling is available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor-trailers on the yard and within an area on public roads.
• Comply with safety requirements and DOT regulations.
• Participate in continuous training and provide customer service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Maintain accurate move and yard inventory records.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
