About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, for local shuttle routes with daily home time. The driver delivers solo to Hauppauge, Virginia, and York, Pennsylvania, using a day-cab tractor and 45- or 48-foot flatbed trailer. Freight is steel, and the work involves load securement only. Trucks are described as well-maintained and safe, 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and access to fueling at more than 800 maintenance locations nationwide.

The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, with a 10:00 p.m. start time. Drivers are paid weekly, with a daily trip rate of $270–$600 per trip and advertised earnings of $1,800 or more per week. Paid training is provided. Ryder describes drivers as having autonomy to make safety decisions and offers support throughout their careers.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
