About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Stockton, California. This is a local, solo driving position delivering to Northern California with home-daily routes. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor pulling a 53-foot dry van. Freight is no-touch. Hazmat endorsement is required within 90 days of hire. Trucks are described as well-maintained and safe, 36 months or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The position pays $29.00 per hour, with an average of 40 hours per week and average weekly pay of $1,377. Training is paid. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, with a start time between 6:00 PM and 12:00 AM. Ryder describes its company-driver role as providing support during the transition and throughout a driver's career.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position; a Hazmat endorsement is required within 90 days of hire.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
