About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Company Driver in Gilberts, Illinois, for regional deliveries of high-end appliances. Drivers deliver solo to Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Tennessee, with routes scheduled Monday through Friday and weekends at home. The role may use a sleeper or day cab tractor and occasionally a 26-foot straight truck. Equipment includes a dry van trailer, pallet jack, appliance handcarts, and lift gate; Ryder provides training on the equipment. Freight handling is touch freight, and drivers may load or unload freight or assist with those tasks when required by the customer. The account averages more than $1,500 per week and guarantees $1,500 per week. Pay is weekly and performance-based, using mileage and stops. A $1,500 sign-on bonus and per diem pay for each night out are offered. Ryder trucks are described as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are responsible for making safety decisions and complying with applicable laws and regulations. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
