About The Position

Ryder is hiring a part-time Class A CDL Transfer Driver in Austin, Texas. The position pays $19.00 per hour, with weekly pay stated as $608. The driver works locally and is home daily on a Monday-through-Thursday schedule from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The route involves shuttling equipment between Ryder customer facilities, with no-touch freight consisting of empty trailers for equipment shuttle transfer movement. Ryder provides 24/7 roadside maintenance by Ryder-trained technicians, and service employees fuel trucks at its maintenance facilities. Drivers are trusted and supported to make driving-condition decisions to help keep them safe.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks and road tests, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations, completing continuous training, and providing customer service.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
