About The Position

Ryder is hiring a part-time Class A CDL truck driver in Jacksonville, Florida. This local position delivers solo to surrounding areas and is home daily. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor with a 53-foot dry van, hauling no-touch retail goods. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday, with some weekday work, and start times range from 4:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., depending on the route. The position averages 30 hours per week and pays $23.50 per hour, with an advertised average weekly paycheck of $705. Paid training is provided, as well as a loyalty bonus of $1,200, paid half at six months and half at one year. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Uniforms and a boot allowance are provided.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
