About The Position

Ryder is hiring a part-time Solo Class A CDL Transfer Driver in Columbus, Ohio. The role involves shuttling equipment between Ryder customer facilities, moving empty trailers, and providing safe, compliant commercial driving with customer service. The position is local with daily home time and a Monday-to-Friday schedule, starting at 8:00 AM, for 30–35 hours per week. Pay is $22 per hour, with weekly pay advertised as $660. A sign-on bonus pays $250 at 30 and 90 days, six months, and one year. Drivers use trucks that are 36 months old or newer and receive 24/7 roadside maintenance support from Ryder-trained technicians. Drivers are responsible for making safety decisions, and the job includes ongoing training and compliance with safety and DOT regulations.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history with previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A tractor-trailer or comparable-vehicle experience meeting one of these thresholds: nine months within the past three years, two years within the past five years, or five years within the past ten years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Provide customer service.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
