About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Hickman, Kentucky. This company driver role delivers solo on regional routes to Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kansas, and Iowa. Drivers operate a sleeper tractor with a flatbed trailer carrying building mesh; freight work is load securement only. The schedule is Monday through Friday or Sunday through Thursday, with weekends off.

The position pays weekly. Compensation includes solo mileage pay of $0.67 per mile, stop pay of $28.75 per stop, and per diem pay of $40 per night. Average weekly pay is advertised as $1,626+, with top earners averaging $1,850+. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is paid in two installments: $1,500 at 30 days and $1,500 at 90 days.

Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions, and the posting states that their jobs are protected when doing so. The role also includes company support during the transition from owner-operator work to a company-driver position.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle meeting one of these alternatives: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Comply with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
