About The Position

Ryder is hiring a solo Class A CDL truck driver in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The position delivers commercial and residential garage doors on routes from North Dakota to Texas and all states east, as well as Canada. Drivers use sleeper tractors with APUs and dry van or Conestoga trailers; Conestoga experience is preferred. Freight is touch, with driver assistance on dry van loads, and load securement uses strapping. Drivers are home every other week and may bring a person and/or pet on the road. Trucks are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Pay averages $1,950 per week, paid weekly. The position offers a quarterly safety bonus of $250, sign-on bonuses of $1,500 at 30 days and $1,500 at 90 days, and paid training. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days; PTO accrual beginning on day one, up to 80 hours in the first year; uniforms, a cell phone, and a boot allowance; a 401(k) rollover option and company match after one year; 12 weeks of paid maternity leave subject to eligibility criteria; and employee discounts. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
