About The Position

Ryder is hiring a solo Class A CDL truck driver based in Rockford, Illinois. The driver delivers to 48 states using sleeper tractors with APUs and dry van and Conestoga trailers. Freight consists of commercial and residential garage doors and requires touch freight, hand unloading, and load securement with straps. The position averages 2,000–2,500 miles and 8–10 stops per week. Drivers may bring a person and/or pet on the road. A passport is required within 90 days of hire. Pay is weekly and advertised as $1,950 or more per week. Compensation includes $0.70 per mile, $28.20 per Conestoga stop, $16.37 per van stop, and $107.56 per van unload. A quarterly safety bonus of $250 and a sign-on bonus of $1,500 at 30 days and $1,500 at 90 days are offered. Paid training is provided. Ryder trucks are described as well-maintained and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, motor vehicle check, DOT physical, and Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A tractor-trailer or comparable-vehicle experience: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Provide a passport within 90 days of hire.
Pass any additional customer-specific screening that may apply, potentially including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, or badging/background requirements.
