About The Position

This is an immediate opportunity for full-time Apprentice Class A CDL Truck Drivers. The role offers $30.50 per hour with overtime after 40 hours. Drivers will be local and home daily, operating late model Penske Truck Leasing trucks with best-in-class specs designed for comfort and safety, equipped with inward and outward facing in-cab cameras. The job involves delivering palletized grocery freight throughout WA and OR, with light-touch freight to the end of the trailer using an electric pallet jack (no hand unload required). The schedule is a 5-day work week, requiring weekends, with 2 consecutive days off each week. The dispatch window is between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM, with an average 55-hour work week. Penske offers on-the-job training to hone existing skills as a Class A licensed driver and is looking for individuals with less than 12 months of commercial driving experience.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of a Penske approved CDL School (CDL 160, Ivy Tech, Truck Drivers Institute, New England Tractor Trailer Training School), or a current or former member of the US Armed Forces
Valid Class A CDL required
Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required
3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
English language proficiency
Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required
Complete Penske employment application
Submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history)
Submit to drug screening
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
Ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others
The associate must be able to see and hear
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg
