About The Position

The Trojan Academy Supervisor/Mentor will support and oversee the Trojan Academy Program in Monroe Public Schools. The program is designed to provide flexible, personalized learning opportunities for Monroe High School students, supporting credit recovery, graduation pathways, and post-secondary readiness through innovative instructional models and strong student support.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (appropriate endorsement required).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree within the educational field preferred.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in teaching or instructional coaching is preferred.
  • Experience working with at-risk, alternative, or diverse student populations preferred.
  • Experience with credit recovery platforms (e.g., Edgenuity) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Must know of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Monroe Public Schools Staff Handbook.
  • Will explore and benchmark alternative education and credit recovery models based on the research of other successful programs.
  • Develop and refine Program of Studies (POS) pathways and review existing pathways to verify their value and effectiveness.
  • Coach designated teachers and staff for ongoing development, implementation, and monitoring of personalized, digital, and trauma-informed instructional practices, including the Classroom 180 model.
  • During coaching sessions/cycles, conduct ongoing assessments of student learning, modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, include students with special needs, and provide individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Review, evaluate, and assess secondary curriculum, Edgenuity coursework, and instructional practices to ensure alignment with graduation requirements and student success.
  • Lead professional development, PLCs, and team meetings to support continuous improvement and program consistency.
  • Oversee all levels of Trojan Academy programming within the building to ensure alignment, consistency, and collaboration across staff and students.
  • Manage purchasing processes to ensure timely access to instructional materials and program resources.
  • Collaborate with Edgenuity representatives to enhance staff understanding and effective platform implementation.
  • Oversee the accuracy of Edgenuity course setup, scheduling, and student access before and during each semester.
  • Track and monitor student progress, attendance, and behavior; provide timely academic and behavioral interventions and supports.
  • Work with school counselors to ensure all courses, credits, and academic programming meet student needs and graduation requirements.
  • Maintain strong communication with families through regular meetings with current and prospective students.
  • Participate in strategic planning to expand Trojan Academy programming and enhance overall effectiveness.
  • Track student enrollment, transitions, and re-engagement opportunities, including monitoring students entering and exiting the program.
  • Coordinate transportation needs in collaboration with district transportation staff.
  • Manage and respond to staff referrals in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact and representative of Trojan Academy for students, families, and community partners.
  • Organize and coordinate career exploration opportunities, including college visits, job shadowing, and guest speakers.
  • Coordinate logistics, transportation, and communication for all off-campus experiences.
  • Develop partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community groups to expand workforce development and real-world learning opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for student crises and coordinate with mental health professionals, social workers, and families.
  • Support implementation of restorative practices, PBIS, and trauma-informed systems to improve student behavior and engagement.
  • Collaborate with staff to create and monitor individualized academic and behavioral plans for students.
  • Coordinate wraparound services with community agencies to support student needs.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and support to instructional and support staff to strengthen program implementation.
  • Foster a collaborative culture through PLCs, team meetings, and ongoing professional learning.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of Trojan Academy staff.
  • Maintain and share program data (e.g., enrollment, attendance, discipline, course completion, graduation progress) with stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of required state and federal reports.
  • Monitor compliance with district policies, state regulations, and IEP/504 requirements in collaboration with special education and counseling staff.
  • Prepare and present reports on student outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Oversee all aspects of student enrollment, including intake, placement, and withdrawals, ensuring consistency and equity in the process.
  • Monitor student engagement and progress to determine appropriate interventions, continued placement, or transition out of the program.
  • Develop and oversee individualized learning plans aligned to each student's goals, needs, and timelines.
  • Create course pacing guides and semester completion targets to support student accountability and success.
  • Align Monroe High School and Edgenuity calendars to ensure consistency in scheduling and progress monitoring.
  • Promote and raise awareness about Trojan Academy within the district and community.
  • Increase family engagement in student learning and program participation.
  • Work collaboratively with community organizations to support student success and expand program opportunities.
  • Support district-wide marketing efforts in collaboration with the Community Engagement Coordinator.
  • Create opportunities for student voice, leadership, and engagement within Trojan Academy.
  • Organize celebrations and recognition programs for student achievement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
