Trojan Internship At Portland General Electric Trojan ISFSI, we’re pioneering the future of nuclear fuel with cutting-edge solutions for safe and sustainable storage. Our Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation is a hub of innovation and unique challenges ranging from our dry cask systems to commercial projects in and around the site. The geographical location of this site is unique in its beauty and has a lot to offer locally with Longview, Washington and Scappoose, Oregon towns nearby. We even have a great challenging disc golf course right outside our facility! As a Intern you will: As an intern at our ISFSI facility, you’ll work alongside Nuclear Fuel storage leaders and vendors from around North America to find innovative solutions to regulatory requirements and get a glimpse into the Nuclear Compliance world. Like any commercial site we have many projects within our footprint that sustains our operations such as electrical, civil, and mechanical infrastructure, ranging from old to new construction.

Requirements

  • Currently an actively enrolled undergraduate student (recent graduate or GED accepted) in good standing and be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or be enrolled in a pre-engineering program); GPA of 2.5 or higher preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License and a history of safe driving practices.
  • Working computer skills using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Basic knowledge of engineering and economic principles and concepts.
  • Basic research skills.
  • Working knowledge of common software applications within field.
  • Working accuracy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering knowledge and gains experience in live application to design; applies engineering skills to appropriately design products in day-to-day tasks; depending on area of specialization, may perform administrative, technical or scientific tasks, such as collecting samples or completing spreadsheets, in support of department assigned.
  • May perform research and analysis under general supervision.
  • May gather qualitative or quantitative data and develop reports or spreadsheets.
  • May participate in company-sponsored internship activities.
