About The Position

The University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College is seeking a TRIO Student Support Services English and Writing Tutor. This is a fixed-term, non-classified staff position. The tutor will provide support to students in English composition I and II, and Literature, focusing on writing, grammar, citation, and reference utilization. Additionally, the tutor will assist students with time management, goal setting, learning styles, Blackboard, and library resources. The role also involves conducting class assessments, maintaining the tutor lab according to CDC guidelines, documenting student progress, and maintaining attendance records. The position requires contacting the supervisor in advance for any absences and performing other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in education, math or related field
• Demonstrate the ability to use basic computer programs that are applicable in a college setting.

Nice To Haves

• Masters preferred
• Two or more years teaching on the college level-preferred
• Experience developing curriculum-preferred

Responsibilities

• Possess the ability to work well with students
• Tutor in English composition I and II and Literature
• Ability to provide personalized attention in the areas of writing, grammar, proper citation and utilizing references for general writing skills.
• Assist in topics using time management, goalsetting, learning styles, blackboard, Library resources.
• Assist and conduct class pre- and post- assessments.
• Help maintain cleanliness of the tutor lab to meet CDC Guidelines before and after class.
• Document students individual progress maintain student attendance records.
• Contact supervisor in advance when unable to come in for work.
• Perform other Duties as requested.
