About The Position

The Trimmer climbs and trims trees and removes unwanted, diseased, or dying limbs to support tree health and the safety of surrounding areas. Working as an active crew member alongside ground crew and a crew leader, the Trimmer performs tree pruning and removal services for clients using Davey’s DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems. The role also involves maintaining and operating tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts. The position is onsite in Farmington, New Mexico, with travel expectations of up to 25%.

Requirements

Love of the outdoors.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights.
Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

Climb trees using available DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
Work as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and the crew leader.
Safely and skillfully perform tree pruning and removal services for clients.
Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout tree canopies.
Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
Remove hazardous trees.
Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
