About The Position

Wilkes University is seeking a High School Trigonometry & Pre-Calculus Teacher for its Upward Bound Program. Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO Program designed to support high school students in career exploration, college preparation, and higher education pursuits. The teacher will be responsible for the academic component of the program, teaching and tutoring students in Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. The course aims to supplement and reinforce students' current high school mathematics knowledge, potentially covering topics like trigonometric functions, identities, equations, graphs, functions, and other foundational concepts for advanced mathematics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, and/or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with high school students.
  • Experience in a college-preparatory program.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the academic component of the Upward Bound program.
  • Teach and tutor high school students in Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus during structured class periods.
  • Supplement and strengthen students' knowledge of material covered in their current high school mathematics courses.
  • Instruct students on topics such as trigonometric functions, identities and equations, graphs, functions, and other foundational concepts that prepare students for higher-level mathematics.
