About The Position
Calling all college students! Planning to intern during the summer of 2027? Kick-off your career at Selective Insurance by joining our award-winning Ignite Internship program at our corporate office in Short Hills, NJ. The Ignite Internship Program is an 11-week, full-time experience that offers a sneak peek into the world of insurance. Level up your skills and knowledge by diving into your business area of choice. Throughout the program, you’ll get a feel for the corporate environment with on-the-job assignments, team projects, exposure to senior leadership & executives, and even a community volunteer day. All of this and more will help you build meaningful relationships throughout the organization. Come and make summer 2027 one to remember with Selective! As a Financial Planning intern, you will help with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business decisions. You’ll be a part of Selective’s corporate Finance Department working directly with experienced professionals to gain hands-on, relevant experience. Please note, this is a hybrid position, therefore, applicants must be within commuting distance of our location in Short Hills, NJ.
Requirements
- Must be a current college student majoring in Finance or a related field to qualify.
- Demonstrate an interest in learning about the insurance industry.
- High School Diploma required.
- Ideal internship candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors, with the ability to perform at a professional level.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint is preferred.
- College credit can be earned depending on your institution’s requirements.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the preparations for the annual budgeting cycle, providing you with insight into the financial management process of the company.
- Reviewing variance reporting across the organization to ensure departments are meeting their expense targets, helping to establish the following year budget.
- Learn about different functions and aspects of the Selective and the insurance industry from a risk perspective.
- Support daily Treasury operations, including liquidity forecasting, bank account administration, and financial reporting.
- Perform financial analysis and assist with projects related to investments, capital management, banking relationships, and process improvements.
