About The Position

CareVet's Traveling DVM program is designed for experienced veterinarians who want flexibility without sacrificing clinical quality, earning potential, or support. This role offers a flexible schedule, with options for 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off (averaging 20 hours per week) or 3 weeks on / 1 week off. Travel logistics, including flight, hotel, and meals, are covered. Veterinarians will rotate across various high-performing hospitals throughout Ohio, experiencing diverse practice styles and caseloads. The hospitals are equipped with modern diagnostics and treatment capabilities, and the program prioritizes clinical autonomy. Teams are experienced, supportive, and value collaboration.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
• Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
• Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
• Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
• Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
• Strong fondness and understanding of animals
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of animal behavior
• Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals

Responsibilities

• Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
• Treat and dress wounds
• Perform surgery on animals
• Test for and vaccinate against diseases
• Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
• Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
• Prescribe medication
• Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
