About The Position

Satterfield and Pontikes Construction, Inc. is hiring a Traveling Senior Superintendent to lead DOT and heavy civil concrete paving projects from mobilization through completion. This field-based role involves traveling to project sites across Texas and beyond as work demands. The ideal candidate is based in Houston, Texas, though applicants from other Texas cities are welcome. The superintendent will oversee project preparation and execution, including grade and subgrade readiness, forms and stringline, equipment staging, crew planning, material logistics, and pour sequencing. The role also includes mentoring Assistant Superintendents and maintaining clear, professional communication with general contractors, owners, inspectors, and clients. The successful candidate will keep projects safe, on schedule, and on specification while addressing field challenges in real time. The position offers authority to run projects and influence construction practices, as well as the opportunity to develop future field leaders. Requirements

At least 10 years of DOT or heavy civil construction experience; concrete paving experience is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated command of field logistics and preparation for large-scale paving projects.
A track record of training, coaching, or mentoring field personnel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in high-pressure conversations with general contractors and clients.
A steady, level-headed approach when schedules tighten or conditions change.
Ability and willingness to travel 50% or more.
Working knowledge of TxDOT or comparable DOT specifications and safety standards.

Nice To Haves

Concrete paving experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Mentor and train Assistant Superintendents, developing their confidence, technical skills, and leadership abilities.
Communicate proactively and professionally with general contractors, owners, inspectors, and clients.
Keep projects safe, on schedule, and on specification, resolving problems in the field.
Travel to project sites across Texas and beyond as project demands require.
