About The Position
We are seeking dependable and flexible Traveling Substitute Food Service Workers to support the school food service program at various locations in Monmouth County. This is an on-call, as-needed position. When scheduled, workers typically work approximately 4–6 hours per day on the day shift, Monday through Friday. There are no weekends or holidays, and summers are off. Candidates must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel between school locations.
Requirements
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel within a 40-mile radius.
- Flexible availability and willingness to work at different school locations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to obtain required documentation and clearances to work in a school setting.
Nice To Haves
- Previous food service experience is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly.
- Serve meals to students in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and perform cashier duties.
- Stock, organize, and rotate food and supplies.
- Wash dishes and maintain clean kitchen, serving, and dining areas.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with other cafeteria duties as needed.
