Traveling Food Service Worker Substitutes
About The Position
We are seeking dependable and flexible Traveling Substitute Food Service Workers to support the school food service program at various locations in Monmouth County. This is an on-call position, with work available as needed. Candidates must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel. When scheduled, the workday is approximately 4–6 hours. The position follows a Monday-through-Friday day shift, with no weekends or holidays, and summers off. The role supports cafeteria operations, including food preparation and meal assembly, meal service to students, cashiering, stocking and organizing supplies, dishwashing, and maintaining clean kitchen, serving, and dining areas. Workers follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures and assist with other cafeteria duties as needed. Requirements
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel within a 40-mile radius.
- Flexible availability and willingness to work at different school locations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to obtain required documentation and clearances to work in a school setting.
Nice To Haves
- Previous food service experience is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly.
- Serve meals to students in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and perform cashier duties.
- Stock, organize, and rotate food and supplies.
- Wash dishes and maintain clean kitchen, serving, and dining areas.

- Assist with other cafeteria duties as needed.
