About The Position

This is a 13-week travel assignment for a Sonographer / Ultrasound Tech specializing in Ultrasound in Hilo, Hawaii. The role is hospital-based within an ultrasound department. The position requires flexibility to float to other units/departments and participate in on-call coverage. Employees are expected to arrive the Thursday before their start date to complete employee health requirements and observe restrictions on time off during the initial contract period, with no RTO granted in the first 13 weeks.

Requirements

  • Active ARDMS certifications: AB, OB, and RVT
  • Active BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time ultrasound experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Proficiency across abdomen, gynecologic, obstetric, neonatal, superficial structures, and vascular ultrasound procedures
  • Ability to work rotating shifts with 40-hour weeks and on-call as needed; ability to float to other units/departments
  • Eligible to work in the listed location; able to participate in a 13-week travel assignment starting 09/14/2026

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive ultrasound examinations across abdomen (Aorta, IVC, liver/biliary, pancreas, spleen, kidneys) including normal and pathological findings.
  • Conduct gynecology and obstetrics studies (breast, ovaries, adnexa, uterus, pelvis; normal and pathological findings; post-menopausal; transvaginal; adult and pediatric populations) and obstetric imaging (1st–3rd trimesters; amniocentesis; complications; biophysical profile; gestational age; placental grading; abnormalities; IGUR; uterus/adnexa).
  • Provide ultrasound guidance and support for procedures such as aspirations, biopsies, drainage, and intraoperative imaging.
  • Assess neonatal heads and congenital anomalies in neonatal studies as part of the routine exam repertoire.
  • Scan superficial structures (abdominal wall, breast, focal masses, hematoma, scrotum/testes, thyroid) and perform vascular studies (carotid duplex; segmental pressure studies; upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex).
  • Document and communicate findings clearly; use Meditech EMR and Fuji Synapse PACS for image management and reporting.
  • Maintain readiness to float to other units/departments, and participate in on-call coverage as required.
  • Adhere to unit standards and equipment use (Canon i700) and ensure patient safety and comfort.
