About The Position

The Travel Registered Nurse delivers nursing care for patients across their life span. Using the nursing process, the nurse assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, evaluates, and documents the effects of care. The nurse works cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-care personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. This is a travel assignment in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, with campus and shift varying. Assignments last 13 weeks and involve 36–40 hours per week; call may be required based on unit need.

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse license in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, based on assignment location.
At least two years of experience in a critical care or surgical care setting.
Successful completion of, or completion of, an approved Dysrhythmia Detection Course.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required before the start of the assignment.
Basic computer skills.
Successful completion of an individualized orientation program.

Responsibilities

Perform an in-depth, systematic assessment of all assigned patients in APU or PACU.
Demonstrate competency in assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
Accurately complete Ambulatory Surgery Assessment documentation, including preoperative, postoperative, discharge, and other pertinent documentation.
Formulate a collaborative plan of care and identify expected patient outcomes.
Implement, evaluate, and document patient care interventions and their effectiveness in accordance with the care plan.
Organize, coordinate, and prioritize patient care using available resources.
Take an active role in unit-based process improvement.
Participate in identifying unit needs and support unit goals and objectives.
Demonstrate flexibility in accepting direction and changes to assignments in response to direction from the Manager or designee and changes in unit situations.
