About The Position

This travel assignment is in a hospital within an Albany-area health system and focuses on Telemetry/stepdown care with stroke exposure. The role involves providing direct RN care to adult medical-surgical/telemetry patients, monitoring telemetry, interpreting cardiac rhythms, and responding to abnormalities. Responsibilities include administering medications, managing IV access and oxygen therapies, collaborating on stroke management plans, documenting in Epic, and floating within the hospital to support patient needs.

Requirements

  • Current NY RN license in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience; NY license required at submission
  • Telemetry experience: At least 1 year of recent telemetry/stepdown strongly preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Epic charting experience
  • NIHSS certification (can be obtained prior to start)
  • Relias EKG exam completed within 72 hours of signing
  • Onsite/hospital proctored EKG test with facility standard of 85% overall and 100% identification of critical rhythms; remediation/retest may be offered
  • Flu vaccine or documented exemption
  • Ability to read/interpret cardiac rhythms reliably
  • Orientation modules (Healthstream) requiring 12–15 hours to be completed prior to start
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility note
  • Local radius restriction: Candidate primary residence must be outside a 50-mile radius; excluded counties include Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster
  • Must be able to float within hospital as needed within skill set

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct RN care to adult medical-surgical/telemetry patients, monitor telemetry, and interpret cardiac rhythms reliably.
  • Recognize and respond to rhythm abnormalities; participate in rapid responses and code events as needed.
  • Administer prescribed medications, including IV cardiac meds and continuous infusions, and manage IV access and oxygen therapies.
  • Collaborate with the care team to implement stroke management plans and monitor post-stroke patients.
  • Document accurately in Epic; maintain up-to-date charting and ensure patient safety and effective communication across shifts.
  • Float within the hospital to support patient needs within the scope of your unit skills.
