About The Position
This is a travel Registered Nurse position for an outpatient infusion unit within a hospital setting in Utica, New York. The assignment is for a 1-week contract, starting on October 5, 2026. The role involves administering various infusion therapies, monitoring patients, and utilizing specific healthcare technologies and equipment.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license (New York) or eligibility to practice in New York.
- Minimum one year of experience in outpatient infusion settings.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and chemotherapy certification; chemo-certified.
- Proficiency with EPIC, Omnicell, and Ascom; familiar with infusion equipment (Alaris pumps, elastomeric pumps).
- Ability to work in an outpatient infusion unit with adult and geriatric patient populations.
- Strong assessment skills and the ability to recognize and respond to infusion reactions quickly.
Responsibilities
- Administer outpatient infusion therapies, including chemotherapy, per physician orders.
- Monitor patients during infusion; assess for adverse reactions and intervene per protocol.
- Prepare and administer blood products when applicable; manage infusion pumps (Alaris) and elastomeric devices.
- Document care and treatment in the electronic health record; coordinate with the care team.
- Utilize technology and equipment such as EPIC, Omnicell, Ascom, glucometers; ensure equipment readiness and safety.
- Support a fast-paced outpatient environment; provide patient and family education as needed.
