About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Burn Surgeon to join their team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. Jacobi Medical Center is a Level I Trauma Center, and North Central Bronx Hospital has 213 licensed beds. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The mission of NYC Health + Hospitals is to provide comprehensive health services of the highest quality to all New Yorkers with compassion, dignity, and respect, regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. This role involves providing comprehensive Trauma Surgery, Emergency General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery, and Burn Surgery services.

Requirements

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery and Trauma/Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery.
  • Completion of a Trauma/Surgical Critical Care fellowship.
  • Must be comfortable with Acute Care Surgery, Trauma Call, Burn, and SICU coverage.
  • Active and unrestricted NY State physician license, or ability to obtain one.
  • Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive Trauma Surgery, Emergency General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery, and Burn Surgery services at an American College of Surgeons-verified Adult Level I and Pediatric Level II Trauma Center.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to adult and pediatric trauma patients.
  • Participate in concurrent Burn, Trauma, and Emergency General Surgery call coverage, including in-house call responsibilities.
  • Provide coverage in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Burn Unit, and manage critically ill surgical, burn, and trauma patients.
  • Supervise, teach, and mentor surgical residents, fellows, medical students, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in both clinical and didactic settings.
  • Participate in academic conferences, quality improvement initiatives, simulation-based training, and trauma education programs.
  • Contribute to clinical research, scholarly publications, and professional society activities.
  • Support the mission of a busy academic surgery division dedicated to patient care, education, research, and community outreach.

Benefits

  • Annual Base Salary: $331,480 (board eligible); $361,480 (board certified) based on 40-hour work week.
  • Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
