About The Position

The Trauma Registrar position at Texas Health Dallas is a full-time role within the Trauma Department. This Level II trauma hospital provides definitive trauma care in a fast-paced, relaxed, and team-oriented environment. The role is on the frontline for life-threatening injuries, offering rapid, coordinated, and specialized care that saves lives. The position involves analyzing medical records daily to determine trauma registry eligibility, maintaining and organizing trauma registry data, performing queries, generating reports, collecting patient care data, monitoring patient records for quality improvement indicators, integrating ACS guidelines, and supporting care coordination across various phases of injury recovery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • One year experience with chart auditing, quality improvement, data entry required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
  • One year experience with Medical Records preferred.
  • ICD-10 coding experience preferred.
  • RHIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze medical records daily to determine trauma registry eligibility.
  • Maintain and organize trauma registry data for coding and abstraction.
  • Perform queries and generate reports from the trauma registry database.
  • Collect patient care data and report significant findings to Trauma Program leadership.
  • Monitor trauma patient records for quality improvement indicators.
  • Integrate ACS guidelines into trauma patient care processes.
  • Support coordination of care across injury prevention, pre-hospital, acute, emergent, and rehabilitation phases.
