Requirements

  • Associate Of Nursing, upon hire or Bachelors Of Nursing, upon hire
  • 4-6 years trauma care experience, upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: ND, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 30 Days
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 30 Days
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course, within 6 - months

Nice To Haves

  • less than 1 year trauma nurse coordinator experience, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Outreach and Injury Prevention Program, acting as primary liaison for EMS, referral facilities, and regional committees, per ACS requirements.
  • Coordinate the entire trauma program, including safety and performance improvement for Level III centers.
  • Maintain quality, community education, and strengthen regional ties.
  • Coordinate nursing care aspects of the trauma program with appropriate nurse managers by reviewing the plan of care for each trauma patient.
  • Directly interact with trauma team members to educate and teach current standards and practices.
  • Round on patients that are admitted to the hospital following a trauma.
  • Participate in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the trauma program by maintaining current knowledge of trauma care via literature review, trauma conferences, and trauma case review.
  • Demonstrate individual accountability for clinical practice and serve as a clinical resource by participating in providing trauma care and maintaining current competencies to work as an Emergency Department staff nurse.
  • Update trauma skills performance for all trauma team members in collaboration with the department heads.
  • Assist staff in problem-solving relating to the care of trauma patients.
  • Participate as a member of the Trauma Committee and prepare information for the trauma committee.
  • Coordinate the trauma data collection process and submit data to the trauma registry.
