Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Trauma Coordinator RN, you will directly support Trauma Services and enhance patient care, elevating trauma expertise and leading injury prevention efforts aligned with our mission.Every day you will oversee the Outreach and Injury Prevention Program, acting as primary liaison for EMS, referral facilities, and regional committees, per ACS requirements. For Level III centers, you'll coordinate the entire trauma program, including safety and performance improvement. Your focus will be on maintaining quality, community education, and strengthening regional ties.To be successful, you will demonstrate strong leadership, program management, and communication skills. A deep commitment to trauma care improvement, patient safety, and meeting ACS verification standards is essential.

Requirements

  • Associate Of Nursing, upon hire or
  • Bachelors Of Nursing, upon hire and
  • 4-6 years trauma care experience, upon hire and
  • Registered Nurse: ND, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 30 Days and
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 30 Days and
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course, within 6 - months

Nice To Haves

  • less than 1 year trauma nurse coordinator experience, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates nursing care aspects of the trauma program with appropriate nurse managers by reviewing the plan of care for each trauma patient, directly interacting with trauma team members to educate and teach current standards and practices, and rounding on patients that are admitted to the hospital following a trauma.
  • Participates in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the trauma program by maintaining current knowledge of trauma care via literature review, trauma conferences, and trauma case review.
  • Demonstrates individual accountability for clinical practice and serves as a clinical resource by participating in providing trauma care and maintaining current competencies to work as an Emergency Department staff nurse.
  • Updates trauma skills performance for all trauma team members in collaboration with the department heads and assists staff in problem-solving relating to the care of trauma patients.
  • Participates as a member of the Trauma Committee and prepares information for the trauma committee.
  • Coordinates the trauma data collection process and submits submission of data to the trauma registry.
