The Trauma Performance Improvement Specialist serves as a resource to the trauma service line and conducts the collection, surveillance, data entry, analysis, and reporting of trauma quality and performance-improvement information from medical records and other sources. The role ensures that data collection, management, analysis, and performance-improvement requirements are met for a Level II trauma center, supporting its designation and verification. This is not a patient-care role. Working under the direction of the Trauma Coordinator and Trauma Medical Director, the specialist supports safety huddles, multidisciplinary rounds, and real-time needs of emergency department and inpatient teams. The role analyzes dashboards and spreadsheets to identify improvement opportunities across the continuum of trauma care, from prehospital EMS support through discharge, and contributes to initiatives such as community fall-safety outreach, disaster-preparedness exercises, and conference presentations. This is a part-time, weekday-focused position of 24 hours per week, with core Wednesdays and rare weekend work. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be needed for large projects or preparation for regulatory reviews. The successful candidate can work independently and collaboratively, manage changing priorities in a high-pressure environment, and complete moderately complex projects with limited supervision. Career pathways may include trauma program and quality leadership roles.
