About The Position

Responsible for providing the Trauma Outreach Educational and Prevention Programs by assisting in program design, implementation, and evaluation of program initiatives. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in nursing with four years of progressive nursing experience. The coordinator must possess a current RN license, and certifications in TNCC or ATCN, ENPC or PALS, and ACLS. They must also maintain instructor status in TNCC, ATCN, or ENPC. The position involves developing and presenting prevention and education programs, coordinating outreach efforts, and serving as a liaison with community providers. Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills are essential, along with exemplary clinical skills in Emergency and Trauma Nursing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing
  • Four years of progressive nursing experience.
  • Current RN license or valid temporary license with the Texas Board of Nursing; or valid Compact RN license.
  • Certification in Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN).
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Must maintain an instructor status in TNCC, ATCN, or ENPC
  • Superior writing skills to compose course outlines, objectives and manuals.
  • Demonstrate competence in technical skills and knowledge related to Emergency Services.
  • Organized and creative in the educational process for both individual and large group classes.
  • Exemplary clinical skills in Emergency and Trauma Nursing.
  • Able to develop a positive, cooperative working relationship with community providers.
  • Demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.

Nice To Haves

  • May require a master’s degree in a related clinical field.
  • Clinical license and/or certification typically obtained through advanced education and advanced practical knowledge of job area obtained through extensive clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the Trauma Department Outreach Educational programs to ensure customer satisfaction, implementation and monitoring of performance improvement and provides an avenue for increased communication with outside agencies. Provides program design as needed.
  • Implements, monitors, evaluates and reports on details regarding the outreach education and prevention programs.
  • Serves as a program and community liaison and resource person, performs public speaking and education, etc., that support the missions, goals and objectives of Trauma Center, while establishing and cultivating positive working relationships to maximize interactive cooperative relationships.
  • Maintains a database for all outreach educational programs.
  • Develops and presents prevention programs and education programs for the community, patients, and staff, while providing patient centered/patient valued care for all internal and external customers of Parkland.
  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction for patient education. Make recommendations to supervisor, implement and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in emergency nursing and trauma, and prevention strategies by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and actively participating in professional organizations. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  • Serves on committees as requested to serve as an active contributor and participant in achieving Emergency Services education and meeting the Parkland goals.
