About The Position
SAMGI is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Trauma Surgeon to provide trauma and acute surgical coverage at JFK Memorial Hospital. This role is part of SAMGI’s surgical hospitalist / trauma program, delivering consistent, high-quality trauma coverage through a shift-based model. This opportunity offers predictable scheduling, competitive per-shift compensation, and the support of an established national surgical organization.
Requirements
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Prior trauma experience required
- ATLS required (or ability to obtain)
- Active California medical license or ability to obtain
- Ability to obtain hospital privileges and credentialing
Responsibilities
- Provide trauma surgery coverage for a Level IV Trauma Center
- Evaluate and manage trauma patients in the emergency department and inpatient settings
- Perform operative and non-operative trauma care as indicated
- Collaborate closely with emergency medicine, anesthesia, ICU, and hospital staff
- Participate in call coverage during assigned shifts
- Deliver timely, safe, and compliant patient care in alignment with SAMGI and hospital standards
