About The Position
Transports patients to and from various areas, providing safe and effective patient care as necessary. Performs scheduled patient care services, communicates patient and family health care needs to appropriate providers, and maintains supplies and equipment in the assigned area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Medical terminology or equivalent.
- Registered Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Surgical Technician, or Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Entry-level or above; CNA, EMT, or similar medical experience.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients to and from various areas and share the workload with peers.
- Assist others with transporting patients as needed.
- Perform patient care services as scheduled, validating travel status and patient needs before retrieving patients.
- Transport patients to designated areas within the required time frame.
- Practice Universal Precautions and aseptic techniques, and maintain a clean patient care environment.
- Introduce yourself to patients upon arrival in their room or patient area.
- Follow transportation policy and proper techniques to ensure safe patient transportation.
- Report patient care needs to the appropriate health care provider.
- Inform the supervisor or designee of delays transporting patients from units.
- Keep required transport information updated.
- Communicate variances and significant events to the appropriate caregiver in a timely manner.
- Communicate with other disciplines to support efficient, quality care.
- Maintain supplies and equipment in the assigned area.
- Monitor and keep film and chemistry stocked in dark rooms.
- Notify the supervisor when other patient care supplies fall below proper stock levels.
