About The Position
The Transporter is responsible for transporting patients throughout Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital using appropriate equipment and ensuring that transport is safe and timely. The role requires sound judgment when selecting the proper mode of transportation, respectful and compassionate interactions with patients, and attention to patient safety before transport to ancillary areas and upon return to the unit. The Transporter must demonstrate proper infection control practices and precautions in all patient care activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior hospital transport or patient care experience.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients throughout the hospital using appropriate equipment, safely and promptly.
- Use good judgment when selecting the proper mode of transportation.
- Treat patients respectfully and demonstrate compassion and empathy.
- Maintain patient safety while preparing patients for transport to ancillary areas and upon their return to the unit.
- Follow proper infection control practices and precautions in all patient care activities.
