About The Position

The Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe and efficient physical transport of patients within the hospital. This includes admission and discharge transports, trips between hospital units and diagnostic testing departments, and return trips. The role may also require transporting equipment and supplies needed to support the department or hospital. The position is based in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and reports to the Director of Patient Transport. It is full-time and includes rotating weekends and holiday schedules.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• CPR BLS certification from the American Heart Association for healthcare providers within three months of hire.
• AED training within three months of hire.
• Interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, their families, nursing staff, and physicians.
• Verbal and written English skills to communicate information clearly and effectively.
• Organizational skills to prioritize and complete transport tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to respond positively to change and willingness to learn efficient ways to accomplish tasks.
• Ability to use and apply correct body mechanics when positioning and transporting patients.

Responsibilities

• As needed, transport equipment and supplies to support the department or hospital.
