Transporter - Nights - Weekdays/Weekends/Holidays
About The Position
At NewYork-Presbyterian, Transporters help create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for patients and their families. They serve as patient ambassadors, offering courteous, prompt assistance and building positive relationships with patients and families. The role transports patients from nursing units to hospital departments and handles pickups and deliveries of Medical Records, lab specimens, pharmacy items, and other equipment. Transporters may need to change oxygen tanks and apply oxygen regulators to conveyance vehicles. The position is full time, on the night shift from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in Flushing, NY. Weekends are required for the first two years, and the position includes weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to follow simple directions.
Nice To Haves
- Some previous experience in food service is desirable.
- Extensive customer service experience and a desire to Put Patients First.
- Experience in the hotel, restaurant, or retail industry.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to areas throughout the hospital in a courteous manner and respond politely and promptly to their needs and inquiries.
- Build relationships with patients and their families while helping ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Transport patients from nursing units to hospital departments.
- Pick up and deliver Medical Records, lab specimens, pharmacy items, and other equipment.
- Change oxygen tanks and apply oxygen regulators on conveyance vehicles when needed.
