About The Position

At NewYork-Presbyterian, Transporters help create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for patients and their families. They serve as patient ambassadors, maintaining a compassionate, caring, warm, and supportive manner while escorting patients throughout the hospital. They respond courteously and promptly to patient needs and inquiries, build relationships with patients and families, and prioritize patient comfort and safety.

Transporters move patients from nursing units to hospital departments and make pickups and deliveries of medical records, laboratory specimens, pharmacy items, and other equipment. The role may involve changing oxygen tanks and applying oxygen regulators to conveyance vehicles. This is a full-time night-shift position at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in Flushing, New York, scheduled from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Weekend work is required for the first two years, and holidays are included in the schedule.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to follow simple directions.
• Some previous food service experience is desirable.

Nice To Haves

• Extensive customer service experience and a desire to put patients first.
• Experience in the hotel, restaurant, or retail industry.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to areas throughout the hospital in a courteous manner, responding politely and promptly to their needs and inquiries.
• Build relationships with patients and their families and provide quality time, superior customer service, comfort, and safety.
• Transport patients from nursing units to various hospital departments.
• Pick up and deliver medical records, laboratory specimens, pharmacy items, and other equipment.
• Change oxygen tanks and apply oxygen regulators to conveyance vehicles when needed.
