About The Position

At NewYork-Presbyterian, Transporters help provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for patients and their families. They escort patients throughout the hospital, treating them courteously and responding politely and promptly to their needs and inquiries. The role emphasizes building relationships with patients and families, providing superior customer service, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. Transporters move patients from nursing units to hospital departments and handle pickups and deliveries of medical records, lab specimens, pharmacy items, and other equipment. They may also change oxygen tanks and apply oxygen regulators to conveyance vehicles. This is a part-time day-shift position at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in Flushing, New York. The schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays; weekend work is required for the first two years. Registration with the 1199 Job Security Fund is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to follow simple directions.
Registration with the 1199 Job Security Fund is required.

Nice To Haves

Some previous experience in food service is desirable.
Extensive customer service experience and a desire to put patients first.
Experience in the hotel, restaurant, or retail industry.

Responsibilities

Escort patients to areas throughout the hospital in a courteous manner and respond promptly and politely to their needs and inquiries.
