About The Position

The Transporter performs the responsibilities necessary to move patients to and from patient-care areas and departments within the hospital. The role primarily serves adult and geriatric patients and transports patients of all ages from the Emergency Services Department to other hospital areas in a friendly, professional, and ethical manner. Patients are transported with nursing personnel in attendance.

The Transporter maintains transport equipment and may be cross-trained to perform clerical and film file room duties. The position requires extended periods of walking, strength and coordination, a pleasant personality for public relations, schedule flexibility, and consultation with the clerical receptionist and/or technical supervisor regarding transport priorities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification.
• CPI training, provided on the job.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Accuracy with names and numbers.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and self-motivate after learning job duties.
• Ability to walk for extended periods; strength and coordination are required.
• Pleasant personality for public relations.
• Schedule flexibility.

Nice To Haves

• Prior hospital or other healthcare experience as a Transporter, Aide, or Orderly.
• Prior transport experience.
