About The Position

The Transportation Supervisor reports to the Transportation Manager and is responsible for transportation management functions related to dispatch, fleet utilization, driver supervision, regulatory compliance, transportation planning, and product distribution in support of customer and operational objectives. The role oversees planning, dispatching, scheduling, driver assignments, equipment use, fleet inspections, maintenance reporting, transportation documentation, and the organization of vehicles and yard areas. It also includes motivating and developing subordinate employees, supporting related department activities, and completing other tasks assigned by the Transportation Manager.

Requirements

Comprehensive knowledge of transportation, logistics, dispatch, and fleet operations.
Strong leadership skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and transportation safety regulations.
High school graduation, including or supplemented by vocational training.
At least three years of employment in a transportation, logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.

Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee transportation planning, dispatching, and scheduling.
Monitor operations and address issues to prevent deviations from delivery schedules and customer commitments.
Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, company, and safety regulations.
Coordinate transportation resources, equipment utilization, and driver assignments to improve efficiency and service levels.
Oversee fleet inspections, maintenance reporting, and transportation documentation requirements.
Motivate and develop subordinates to optimize their performance and personal growth.
Oversee routine housekeeping and organization of transportation equipment, vehicles, and yard areas.
Perform other tasks assigned by the Transportation Manager.
Assist with related department activities and perform related duties as required.
