About The Position

Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Planner assigns shipments to carriers using the transportation management system. The role monitors appointments, pickups, deliveries, and trailer pools while supporting carrier engagement and resolving transportation issues. It communicates with internal and external stakeholders, analyzes and interprets performance metrics, identifies service issues, and collaborates across teams to resolve them. The planner brings a continuous improvement mindset, recommends improvements to existing processes, and supports implementation plans. The position works from the Omaha office three days per week, Tuesday through Thursday.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of applicable experience.
Understanding of business and transportation terms and concepts.
Problem-solving skills and effective communication with stakeholders.
Basic understanding of interpreting data in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power BI.

Responsibilities

Assign and tender less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload (TL) shipments to the carrier base using Oracle Transportation Management (OTM).
Monitor shipments and support customer service by helping ensure on-time delivery to customers.
Engage with carrier partners and internal stakeholders to maintain and improve on-time performance.
Support shipping locations with carrier communication, trailer pool coordination, rush shipment arrangements, and problem resolution.
Collaborate with multiple teams and sites to gather feedback and resolve issues through Microsoft Teams, phone calls, and in-person meetings.
Analyze existing shipping processes, recommend improvements, and support implementation.
