About The Position

The Transportation Planner reports to the Transportation Manager and assigns shipments to carriers using a transportation management system. The role monitors appointments, pickups, deliveries, and trailer pools while supporting carrier engagement and resolving transportation issues. It communicates with internal and external stakeholders, analyzes performance metrics, identifies service issues, and collaborates across teams to resolve them. The planner also recommends process improvements and supports their implementation. The position works from the Omaha office three days per week, Tuesday through Thursday. The expected annual salary range is $59,000–$79,000, with actual salary depending on factors including location, relevant experience, level, and skillset. Requirements

Bachelor's degree or at least 3 years of applicable experience.
Understanding of business and transportation terms and concepts.
Problem-solving skills and effective communication with stakeholders.
Basic understanding of interpreting data in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power BI.

Responsibilities

Assign and tender less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload (TL) shipments to carriers using Oracle Transportation Management (OTM).
Monitor shipments and support customer service by helping ensure on-time delivery to customers.
Engage with carrier partners and internal stakeholders to maintain and improve on-time performance.
Support shipping locations with carrier communication, trailer pool coordination, rush shipment arrangements, and problem resolution.
Collaborate with multiple teams and sites to gather feedback and resolve issues through Microsoft Teams, phone calls, and in-person meetings.
Analyze existing shipping processes, recommend improvements, and support implementation.
Analyze and interpret performance metrics and identify service issues.
