About The Position

The Transportation Manager establishes and maintains smooth operation of the Transportation Department. The role provides general supervision of Transportation employees and departmental processes, and is responsible for maintaining a properly staffed and trained department. This is a full-time position with the company in Fairborn, Ohio.

Requirements

• Two to three years of proven experience in all facets of transportation management.
• Ohio Class A CDL with manual endorsement, which must be maintained.
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to work within a team.
• Proven experience with logistics systems and route scheduling.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Experience with Excel, Word, and XATA or similar programs.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards.
• Experience recruiting and hiring, training and motivating teammates, and resolving employee-relations issues.
• Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, and customers.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the food distribution industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain effective and timely scheduling of delivery routes and ensure proper route coverage.
• Maintain knowledge of and compliance with Federal Department of Transportation regulations and other safety standards.
• Maintain the fleet safely in accordance with company and governmental standards.
• Remain on call during off-duty hours and cover last-minute delivery routes when required.
• Maintain communication within the transportation team and with company management.
• Enforce general company policies and issue disciplinary documentation to teammates and Management/Human Resources.
• Apply knowledge of the Drivers Handbook and backhaul procedures.
• Use ELD, scanning procedures, and Zebra systems.
• Hire and road-test potential route/logistics drivers.
• Staff, train, supervise, motivate, and support Transportation employees, including resolving employee-relations issues.
