About The Position

VHB’s Charlotte, North Carolina office is seeking a Transportation Intern to join the team for Summer 2027. The intern will support transportation engineering and roadway design work, including engineering calculations and analysis, traffic-count and report review, and roadway plan development. The role uses tools such as Synchro, MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro, and Microsoft Office. VHB does not provide housing for internships.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in engineering.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and attentive to detail.
• Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering calculations, analysis, and report preparation.
• Compile and analyze annual traffic counts for various counties.
• Review traffic reports for state and local counties.
• Use software such as Synchro, MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro, and other tools.
• Assist the roadway design team with plan development.
