About The Position

HDR is seeking a Summer 2027 Transportation Intern to support its Transportation Business Group in Florida. The group works on transportation systems and infrastructure, including highways, bridges, transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, ports, and marine infrastructure. Its multidisciplinary teams address mobility challenges and support economic vitality, public safety, and sustainable, resilient communities. The intern will support engineers and project teams on transportation planning, design, and infrastructure projects, gain hands-on experience, and collaborate with professionals across disciplines. HDR describes the internship as offering mentorship, professional development, and exposure to projects that shape communities.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
Attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Basic Microsoft Office skills.
Commitment to actively participate in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

Preferably have completed two years toward a degree and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Desire to learn, collaborate, and contribute in a professional environment.
Experience with CAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, GIS, or similar software.

Responsibilities

Support engineers and project teams on transportation planning, design, and infrastructure projects.
Assist with roadway, bridge, aviation, transit, and multimodal transportation assignments.
Participate in field visits, project meetings, and technical analyses.
Use engineering software, GIS tools, and industry technologies to address project challenges.
Collaborate with professionals across multiple disciplines in a team-oriented environment.
Contribute ideas to improve project delivery and transportation outcomes.
